The Scares That Shaped Us Episode 46: The Amityville Horror with Rachel Harrison

I'm thrilled to have Rachel Harrison, author of horror bangers like So Thirsty, The Return, and Black Sheep, back on the podcast this week. She was one of our very first guests in one of my favorite episodes, and her return was everything I hoped for and more.

This time around, in celebration of the plot and themes in her excellent new novel Play Nice, Rachel picked The Amityville Horror as her formative horror story. In this episode we discuss it not just as a book that became a movie, but as a larger paranormal phenomenon that launched a media franchise, changed lives, and may or may not be entirely fictional. It's a really fun discussion, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Next week on the show we'll have another excellent guest as Keith Rosson, author of Fever House and The Devil By Name, joins the podcast for the first time. We'll be talking to Keith about his new vampire novel, Coffin Moon, and we'll return to Stephen King territory as we discuss The Tommyknockers. That'll go up September 17 on the main podcast feed, which you can get RIGHT HERE.
